Evie has a stuffed owl that we named Charlie. Charlie was my granddaddy's name and we named the owl this because my grandma and mom bought him from the hospital gift shop when my granddaddy was there. It was actually purchased the day my granddaddy went to heaven so this owl is VERY special. When my grandma gave Gray and I this stuffed animal at one of our baby showers I cried like a baby. Charlie definitely went to the hospital with us when I was in labor and was there for the delivery. :)
We keep it on top of Evie's book shelf and one night my mom decided to grab him and hold it up to Evie. Well she got so excited and grabbed him and starting making that panting noise she makes which means she is extremely happy! It was one of the sweetest things I'd ever seen her do! Ever since then we let her have him at night when she gets out of the bath and she goes crazy. She grabs him and hugs all over him and starts laughing. She has other stuffed animals, but doesn't get nearly as excited as she does with Charlie. It is one of my favorite times of the day to see her get this excited!
I had to blog about this is because I am certain that it is a sign as to how much she loves her Charlie. It is almost if she knows that the owl represents a part of her great-granddaddy. Gray and I are sentimental people so little things like this always get to us! :) I can't wait until she is old enough to be able to share this story with her.
These pictures don't really do it justice, but you can see the excitement in her sweet face!
