Evie meets Harrison

Throughout my pregnancy we would always talk about Evie's brother and point to my stomach. We knew she really didn't understand, but eventually she started pointing to my stomach and say "baby". Once we decided on the name Harrison we would refer to the baby as Harrison. Every night when we said prayers we would pray for Harrison and she would get up and kiss my belly. It was one of the sweetest moments of my pregnancy.
I couldn't wait for Evie to meet her brother, but of course I had no idea how she would react. I was a little worried as I'm sure most moms are because she has been the only child and only grandchild. I had planned everything with my mom and Gray's step mom as to when Evie would get to come meet her brother. Harrison came at a perfect time because Evie was in school and then Gray's step mom was able to pick her up from school and spend some time with her. One of my main requests was for Evie to have a bath before coming to the hospital to get all the daycare germs off of her. :) Cindy had Evie all ready to go in her cute big sister shirt when my mom went to pick her up. They arrived at the hospital that afternoon. I was so ready to see my baby girl. I had missed her so much even though it had only been a day!
When they got to the hospital Gray went out in the hall to meet up with them and she was "off the chain" as Gray described it. Daddy had to sit her down and "try" to get her to understand that she had to calm down.

Precious even if she was acting a little cray! :)

Gray carried Evie into the room and I was in the bed holding Harrison. She had the biggest grin on her face when she walked in. I wanted to jump up and grab my baby, but I knew I couldn't do that!

Meeting her brother for the first time. One of the best moments of my life.

She brought Harrison a balloon, but it ended up being more entertainment for her. :)

Anytime Harrison would make a noise or fuss a little bit, Evie would say "No baby, no cry". It was so precious!

One proud big sister!

Checking out her brother. I am in love with this picture!
That smile!

My whole world
First family picture with all 4 of us!
Such a special moment and LOVE that Evie is laying under the covers.

So blessed to be a mama to these two sweet babies! My heart might explode!

My mom brought Evie back to the hospital the second day we were there. Our sweet friends Anna and David were there so they were able to snap this sweet pic for us!

Harrison's Birth Story

Tuesday, February 24th we had our 39 week doctor's appointment and Gray and I had discussed the possibility of being induced. Gray wasn't crazy about the idea, but the doctor brought it up and said it was completely normal to do it and since I was already 4 cm dilated, she felt it wouldn't take all day. Dr. Lambert was on call the next day and said she would put us on the schedule if we wanted to do it then. Gray and I discussed it for a few minutes...mainly saying "Wow, we can have a baby tomorrow!" After a few more minutes of discussion we decided that we wanted to do that. Excitement had really set in at this point!
When we got home that night we did some last minute packing and soaked up some one-on-one time with Evie. I was very emotional because I knew we would be away from her for a couple of days and it was her last night as an only child. She would be staying with my mom so I knew she was going to be in great hands, but we had no idea how she was going to handle everything.

After we put Evie to bed I started having some cramps, but had felt this way before so I didn't think much of it. When I felt another one come on later I had a strange feeling. I decided that maybe I should go ahead and shower just in case these were real contractions. We had to be up super early anyway to be at the hospital by 5:15 so I figured why not go ahead and shower. Gray and I managed to be in bed by 10:30 or so even though we knew we probably wouldn't be able to sleep much. Around 1:00 I woke up with more intense cramping. I told Gray about it and decided to start timing them. They went from every 10 minutes to about every 4 minutes very quickly so we went ahead and called the doctor and she told us to come in!
When we arrived at the hospital and got checked in I was in so much pain. When they checked me I was already 7 cm dilated and in my head I'm thinking oh my please get me that epidural. Luckily they were able to get it in time and  it slowed things down a little bit. I was ok with this because Dr. Lambert wasn't coming in until 7 and I knew I wanted her to do the delivery. I made good progress throughout the morning and around 9:30 I started pushing.  I pushed for about an hour because of the way his head was positioned. At 10:42 am Harrison Lewis made his debut into the world. He was very healthy and this delivery experience was great compared to my first.
Feeling extra thankful for my many blessings!
